Over just a few days in mid-July, every one of our rescue assets including our Arctic 24 Heather White, the Inshore Lifeboat Christopher Taylor, the quad bikes and SAR trailer, the drone team, and our new incident van, were deployed by HM Coastguard to assist with multiple incidents along the coast.

On 10 July, during preparations for our weekly training session, we responded to two people in difficulty off Formby. Our teams worked swiftly alongside the public and multiple agencies, with one casualty rescued by a bystander and the other found clinging to the wreck of the Ionic Star before being brought ashore by our ILB.

In the following days, our quad bikes were used on 12th July and twice on 13th July to assist with medical evacuations and search efforts on Formby and Southport beaches, working alongside Southport and Crosby Coastguard teams, Merseyside Police, North West Ambulance Service, RNLI Lifeguards and Merseyside Fire Brigade.

These incidents demonstrate the value of our full range of rescue equipment and the dedication of our volunteers, who responded rapidly, worked seamlessly with other agencies, and ensured positive outcomes.
